Good day to you! This is the Features Page of Artists-In-Residence, a brand new Web hosting service that offers free personal, business, and organizational Web sites exclusively to those in the Performing and Visual Arts and the Humanities. As part of free services on Artists-in-Residence, each resident receives:
Fractal Imagers, FutureSplash, Infinop's wavelet image compression, Macromedia's Shockwave, Maple, Mathematica, Midi, NetMC, NET TOOB for MPEG, Sizzler, ToolBook II Instructor, VivoActive, VocalTec Internet Phone, Voxware, Vream - Virtual Reality Authority Software, VRML, and WINPurchase support is also included. Residents may use our Web page authoring tool to make simple pages even if they don't know HTML. Access to this feature is available to Residents only. One unforseen feature of this service has become the very high search engine rankings Artists-In-Residence and its residents have received. This is due to our combine efforts to be linked to by other sites. which affects our rankings and results in higher visibility for us all. Residents may request a "suite," or 5 additional megs of space, for only $10.00 (one time payment). A-I-R's Bulletin Board is available for posting Arts and Humanities-related messages as well as a job board where visitors can list short- and long-term assignments of interest to residents. Residents can also create discussion areas related to their sites and only have to worry about moderating the area. Or, residents and guests may use the chat room set up in the Parlor. Residents and non-residents are welcome to join and participate on the
mailing list, HUMAN-ARTS, where we discuss humanities and the arts from a global perspective. To join, send the following command in the body of an email message to
majordomo@artists-in-residence.com: subscribe human-arts Residents can announce their activities on the Calendar of Events and participate in chat sessions in the Parlor. As more residents join, we will offer new features, such as the Garden Party, which will be a regular opportunity for residents to display their work in a group exhibition. Residents and visitors may visit The Lounge and browse through the many Arts and Humanities zines compiled in the A-I-R Zine, get up-to-date entertainment news, or listen to the eclectic sounds of A-I-R Radio. And, the Landlady has started The Emporium, where she is gathering links to books in numerous Arts and Humanities subjects, all available from Amazon.com. All are welcome to come, browse and, of course, buy. It all sounds great, doesn't it? Before you ask to be a resident, though, please take a look at the house rules and application form page. There aren't many rules, but they will be strictly
enforced. Questions? Please let
me know. Thank you for coming. I hope that you will return soon. Randye Jones A-I-R Banner Exchange Graphics used are copyrighted by http://www.arttoday.com.
