CHOP BUSTER

under reconstruction

On this site I will attempt to address the distressing lack of organized coherent and concise material for making progress on the guitar and related instruments using a plectrum.

Foundations:
  • I once heard Mick Goodrich (author of Advancing guitarist) say "playing guitar is like Having your fingers doing gymnastics through a maze." So learn the maze, and develop the fingers. Doh! Most peoples digits work fine with some limitations of speed, stamina, stretch oh and finesse; to say nothing of musicality.
  • The Tuck Andres treatise on Plectrum technique, while thorough, fun and thoughtful, I can't think of a single friend I forwarded the link to that read it completely, way too much verbage.
  • Jimmy bruno says learn (and hear) the diatonic (7 tones), then learn (and hear) the other five tones. These tones turn out to be: flat5 #5 "leading tone" flat9 and the #9 C# D# F# G# A#. That's it only 12 tones.

So how is this site different?

==I am once again offering non-stylized, foundational building blocks of basic and advanced musical structures. And since various simpletons have appropriated my chopbuster, chopmonster, names that I've used since the 80's; I'll just call this "guitar syllabus". People will 'pass' on your ideas and then steal them.

==If you want to sound like every other shreader/rocker/jazzbo wannabe then keep looking.

if you're tired of dead end, sounds like the same'ol crap exercizes then read on.

What this site is:

-A detailed look at some of the physical aspects of playing guitar with a pick.

-A graphic presentation of concepts / permutations / shapes and ideas.
