Biography of the Artist Rudolf Megert
Art came to me when i was already about 25 years of age. It was in Israel where i went for some Kibbutz experience (wasn't really my own idea, but anyway). A
simple lifestyle, short working hours and therefore a lot of spare time and a girlfriend that somehow liked my creativity got me started. My first art works where
drawings for clay pipes, then one fine morning when i went outside my door there was a shoe carton full with brushes and acrylic colors tubes! A New Yorker artist
that somehow had all of a sudden enough of art just thought i could use it - and i did. My girlfriend liked Rene Margritte and Salvador Dali and i liked their works
too so i started first with surrealism, some surrealistic artwork from that time is show above. Once i left Israel for Switzerland i became a bit more intellectual about it
all and went more for all sorts of artistic experiments and tried out cubism, late Picasso style, abstract color psychology, lithography and also particularly sketching
and drawing of people or architecture. Once i moved out of Basel i quickly found a style of painting with acrylics that suited me and my art work became more
distinct. During my various visits to greek islands and much more so to Turkey my painting moments where becoming more and more pre determinate by my
knowledge of my astrological transits. I would be ready for any day x when i knew astrologically exactly i will be able and inspired to start and finish something from
a to z in perfection according to my painting experience. Especially in Damascus these times where like a rush. Ready set and go and don't stop at nothing before it is
finished. With the years i became a master in being at the best possible place at the best possible time, all by my constantly researched amassing astrological
knowledge which was anyway in most cases the real reason for my traveling. With the years of painting and drawing i came eventually to a point where i felt there is
no challenge anymore in techniques or visual experiments as i have learned and tried so much already. One fine day some years later i went into the downtown
library in Toronto and found lots of pc's and actually started to surf around the net. There where all these free web space and easy to learn how to create a web
page. Well, slowly this became the new challenge and started to replace brushes and color tubes. Was this a good move??? I think everyone would agree that
physical activity while painting with brushes and colors is A LOT healthier then sitting endless hours in front of a pc, letting the monitor and tower electro smog you,
your stomach hanging sloppy and your muscles getting lazy. anyway, art is part of my life, no matter what kind of art at what period of my life it will be |
